After that, declares the LORD, I will give Zedekiah king of Judah, his officials and the people in this city who survive the plague, sword and famine, into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to their enemies who want to kill them. He will put them to the sword; he will show them no mercy or pity or compassion.’

Jeremiah 21
1. Zedikiah sends to Jeremiah to enquire the event of Nebuchadnezzar's war.
3. Jeremiah foretells a hard siege and miserable captivity.
8. He counsels the people to fall to the Chaldeans;

(7) He shall smite them with the edge of the sword.--The words were bold words for the prophet to utter while the king was still on the throne, and urged on by his princes to defy the power of the Chaldaean king. In Jeremiah 52:10; Jeremiah 52:24-27 we find their literal fulfilment.

Verse 7. - And such as are; rather, left which are left. (There has been an obvious error in the repetition of "and.")
